The visual world of The Hundredth Chamber was built through photography, but its emotional world continued after the final frame. We wanted the project to have music created for its own atmosphere rather than borrow a mood from somewhere else.

The result is The Easiest Thing, a five-song EP by FOI and Sourish Mukherjee.

Five emotional chapters

The Easiest Thing opens the room with tenderness. Maybe Sleeping moves into a dream-state. Take It Off carries confidence and a stronger pulse. Lay Down slows the story into trust and stillness. Strong closes the album with self-possession after vulnerability.

Together, the songs form another route through the same project. They do not explain the photographs. They stay beside them.

One project, more than one medium

FOI has always been interested in what happens when photography meets cinema, writing, sound and design. Creating original music allows a visual story to remain emotionally consistent across films, reels, exhibitions and the private experience of viewing a collection.
